Form for "My Stewardship of Time and Talent Through Lutheran Church by the Lake"
Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM) is the men's ministry of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America.
We meet on a monthly basis usually in a cookout/dinner meeting format with a short business meeting, food, and fellowship. Our members are active in our local community and our church life working to fulfill the mission of the Lutheran Church by the Lake. Here, at the Lutheran Church by the Lake (LCBTL), our men’s group is chartered under the auspices of the South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission. The vision of Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM) is for every man to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through an effective men's ministry in every congregation. All male members of the LCBTL are automatically members of the LMM. The Lutheran Church By The Lake exists today because of the generous support of the South Carolina LMM through their Gift Fund and the New Mission Start Program. As a mission congregation we were the recipients of $35,000 per year for the first 2 years of our existence. We also received an interest free loan of $200,000 from the New Mission Start program. As a token of our appreciation to the SCLMM our LMM annual Golf Tournament and Committee of 100 appeal contributes thousands of dollars each year toward the programs of the SCLMM. These programs include the funding of the SCLMM Gift Fund, the New Mission Start Program, and scholarship money for Seminarians. We also encourage all members of our congregation to be actively involved in the Committee of 100 program. The Committee of 100 was established in 1976, to encourage 100 men to give $100 each year to be put in the Loan Fund. The Loan Fund provides financial help to mission congregations in the South Carolina Synod for their building programs. In 1996 the Executive Committee started the “New Mission Start Program” which is funded by the Committee of 100 gifts. The purpose of this fund is to provide “start up” monies for new mission churches in South Carolina when the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America does not have sufficient funds to do so. This money is used to help pay the mission developer’s salary for no more than three years. When you make a gift to this fund you can instruct the committee chairman to put the gift in the New Mission Start Program or the Loan Fund or split the amount if you so desire. This program is not limited to men only. Dinner meetings are held at the church on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, 5:30 p.m. All men of the church are welcome President - Chuck Gresham - 391-4032 V.P. - Dave Phillips Secretary - Don Garman Treasurer - Bob Broucksou Quartermaster - Ron Younts Activities: Annual Golf Tournament Ash Wednesday Pancake Dinner Habitat for Humanity Salkahatchee Dinner |
